Sailing Day 1- St. Vincent to Bequia with BOSS, the Barefoot Offshore Sailing School

Today we frantically studied over breakfast, knowing our big ASA 101 test was coming up. Then we met Nancy, our experienced skipper from Barefoot Offshore Sailing School, and Ed from NYC and Adam from Boston who would be joining us on the boat.  I can already tell they're a great bunch. Then we took our tests and Mark and I both passed with a 94% (studying together obviously helped). Then we discussed the plan, grabbed our snorkels and rode the dinghy to our boat. We quickly left the bay and soon were swapping duties at the helm as we sailed 2 hours south to Bequia. The hit a squall en route with some big winds and rain but we pulled in to this beautiful island under sunny skies.
Ed cooked up a yummy meal and we settled in to our first night on the boat. What a new world!
